Objectives
To develop skilled manpower through diversified courses
to meet the requirements of mainly the unorganised sector
and to prepare people for the world of work in general
through a large number of self employment oriented courses,
not precluding wage employment orientation of many courses.
Through diversification into production and service-oriented
courses, it is desired to reduce the aimless pursuit of
higher education and thereby reduce pressure from the
tertiary education.
Implement the scheme by utilizing the expertise available
with non-formal vocational training institutes. Vocational
Training Institutes / organization in the non formal sector
provided they meet well defined norms and criteria, are
granted accreditation for conducting specified courses.
The courses follow the prescribed syllabus. Students from
accredited institutes as well as working professionals
are eligible to appear for the examinations at these courses
conducted by the NCTVE, if they fulfill the prescribed
eligibility criteria.
NCTVE has its headquarters at Bangalore and accredited
IVT's spread throughout the country. NCTVE has setup multipurpose
Vocational Training Institutes in Rural and Underprivileged
areas of India. The programme has been implemented in
all States and registered significant results. Apart from
the Vocational Training Institutes, which were funded
by Govt. of India Departments, a large number of self

in their own specialized areas of Information Technology,
Engineering & Technology, Business & Office Management,
